1st Shift for our Devens, MA, location.Job PurposeAs an
Electro-Optical Technician - 1st Shift in our Devens, MA, location,
your main objective will be to build and test laser and optical
systems for the world's most productive and advanced metal Additive
Manufacturing (AM) systems. VulcanForms Inc. is a manufacturer of
complex, high value engineered components in serial production at
the world's most powerful additive foundry.This opportunity is a
very hands-on job requiring familiarity with precise optomechanical
assembly techniques, soldering electronics, the setting up of test
equipment, troubleshooting, and monitoring devices. The tasks
assigned to this role are technically challenging and will test
your attention to detail and precision.Please note that the
Electro-Optical Technician position is shift-based: 1st shift runs
from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm; 2nd shift runs from 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm;
3rd shift runs from 11:00 pm to 7:30 am.Key
AccountabilitiesAssemble complex optomechanical systems and
integrate their sensing, monitoring, and actuation
subsystemsCommission and assemble fiber laser systems and perform
fiber splicing and coupling.Assisting our photonics teams' daily
operations, including setting up the cleanroom, developing the
necessary safety and work procedures, developing assembly methods,
maintaining order and inventoryWork with a cross-disciplinary team
to improve our AM system design and performance further.Participate
in and provide first-hand feedback on optical system design and
integration.Qualifications2 or more years of experience or
equivalent relevant education/experience; or certification program
of comparable scopeExperience with precision optomechanical
assemblies, component inspection, and or electronic or
electro-mechanical assembliesExperience with troubleshooting
electronic circuitsExperienced with optical and or electrical test
equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power meters, spectrum
analyzers)PreferredHands-on experience with fiber optics coupling
and fiber terminating techniques (cleaving, splicing)Experience
with the electronics assembly techniques: wiring, crimping,
soldering, ESD protectionExperience with setting up and conducting
optical, electrical, temperature, and data logging testsExperience
with testing software (i.e., LabView)Skilled in precision
assemblyStrong sense of ownershipTeam player with excellent
communication skillsExcited about taking on new challenges in the
metal additive manufacturing industry and working in a fast-paced
startup environmentSelf-motivated, hands-on, with a practical
mindset, and capable of setting and reaching ambitious
