AOA Xinetics (AOX), a wholly owned Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP), Payload and Ground Systems Division Business Venture, is a leading supplier of complex electro-optic and photonic systems and subsystems that control and manipulate light waves for a variety of applications. AOA-Xinetics designs, develops, and manufactures precision, advanced optical products and systems such as deformable mirrors, optical systems, adaptive optics control systems and silicon carbide optical structures for the U.S. Government, commercial customers, and U.S. defense prime and second-tier contractors. Markets for these technologies include civilian astronomy and semiconductor capital equipment as well as defense ISR and Directed Energy. Several potential direct and adjacent application areas also exist. We are currently seeking a Bond Technician to support Manufacturing activities in Devens, MA.

Reporting to the Production Manager of Precision Devices, the Bond Technician 2 will be responsible for the execution and support of bonding activities as they relate to the production of optical-mechanical assemblies; have the ability to handle delicate optical and mechanical components during assembly process, and clean, bond, and assemble all parts associated with opto-mechanical and ceramic assemblies.


  • Prepare, mix and test epoxies for use to bond a variety of dissimilar materials (composite, ceramic, metal, or laminate) assemblies, parts, or structures into semi-finished or finished products
  • Work from engineering drawings, written work instructions and process specifications to assemble structural and precision mechanical components in a lab environment while documenting work in build books
  • Operate ovens to complete bonding cycle, control conditions of heat, pressure, and timing by setting and operating various controls according to the specifications for the materials and the bonding agent being used
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Use a variety of mechanical and inspection tools to test and inspect optical and mechanical components for accuracy and quality
  • Set up and test complete units and subassemblies under operational conditions
  • Work in accordance with established safety rules and good housekeeping practices
  • Perform other duties as assignedBasic Qualifications:
    • High School Diploma or Equivalent
    • 3 - 5 years of opto-mechanical assembly experience
    • Ability to read and interpret drawings and blue prints
    • Ability to follow work instructions
    • Ability to follow epoxy mixing and bonding instructions
    • Use of basic hand tools
    • Ability to work independently, strong attention to detail, and good written/verbal communication skills
    • U.S. Citizenship is a bona fide requirement for employmentPreferred Qualifications:
      • Basic knowledge of optical and electrical test equipment
      • 2 - 3 years of bonding assembly experience Physical Requirements:
        • Sit or stand for long periods
        • Ability to lift up to 50lbs when/if required Salary Range: $45,900 USD - $76,500 USD

          Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
