Pay Range: $50,675.11 - $67,732.95 Per Year
Appointment Type: Covered Full-Time - Exempt
Labor Grade: F06, F09
Work Schedule: Academic Year Schedule for 10 month faculty
This position is for the 2021-2022 academic year. Associate Professor SCOPE OF WORK: --To educate students and develop curricula in the field of Electronic Engineering Technology as outlined in the prescribed program curriculum at Nashua Community College. This program is ABET (Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology) accredited, with national recognition. This position reports to the Department Chairperson of the--Engineering and Computing Sciences Department--at Nashua Community College. ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Teaches--Computer Engineering and--Electronic Engineering Technology courses and other related courses as assigned.
  • Demonstrates teaching effectiveness through the development of instructional materials that comply with established course content, integrate theory with applications, clearly define course goals, observe program and institutional accreditations standards, promote critical thinking and life skills, and responds to diverse academic needs.
  • Maintains accessibility and availability to assist students with their learning needs and advises individuals or groups of students in academic matters and exercises professional judgment in referring students to appropriate personnel.
  • Supervises student learning activities and academic progress and maintains accurate records of student progress and accomplishments. Consults with and interprets these to students and maintains accessibility and availability to assist students with their learning needs.
  • Coordinates departmental activities and operations by developing credit and non-credit programs and/or courses, sharing teaching and learning methodologies with peers, serving as an academic resource, cultivating and maintaining collaborative relationships with business and industry within the field of Electronic Engineering Technology, providing leadership in the development of articulation initiatives, maintaining educational equipment and spaces, requisitioning instructional equipment, supplies or classroom materials and actively participates in accreditation activities.
  • Assists in the planning, development, and implementation of college sponsored recruitment and retention activities including career and job fairs, student orientations, registrations, and award ceremonies, and/or advising student activity groups, as assigned.
  • Engages in professional activities related to the--Computer Engineering and--Electronic Engineering Technology--disciplines--that partner the college with the wider community by serving on college or system teams, or participating in community-sponsored events, as assigned.
  • Remains technologically and pedagogically current within the field of Computer and Electronic Engineering Technology through participation in relevant professional associations and educational and training activities. Utilizes appropriate instructional and administrative technologies as required for teaching effectiveness and college operations/communication.
  • Observes all academic policies and procedures and institutional rules and regulations and demonstrates ethical and professional behavior.
  • Serves on and leads college or system committees, as assigned.
  • Complies with all system, college, state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university with major study in field of--Computer or--Electronic Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering. Possession of a master's degree in Education shall require twelve (12) graduate credits in field of--Electronic Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Computer Engineering and a bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering or related field. Experience: --Five (5) years of teaching experience in Computer and/or Electronic Engineering Technology, or related discipline, or five (5) years' business or industry experience directly related to Electronic Engineering Technology, or related field, including, but not limited to, design of analog, digital, microprocessor, and communication devices. OR Education:--Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university with major study in--field of-- Computer or--Electronic Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering . Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Education shall require an Associate's degree in Electronic Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering or related field. Experience: Six (6) years of teaching experience in the field of Computer and/or Electronic Engineering Technology, or related discipline, or six (6) years of business or industry experience directly related--to the field Electronic Engineering Technology or related field including, but not limited to, design of analog, digital, microprocessor, and communication devices. License/Certifications:-- Valid driver's license or access to transportation. RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS:-- Thorough knowledge of teaching methods and materials, problems and subject matter as relates to course of instruction. Considerable knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques, materials, tools and equipment used in post-secondary teaching. Knowledge of educational standards and procedures in the Technical Institute or College to which assigned. Ability to work with and secure the cooperation of others. Ability to maintain comprehensive records of the progress and development of the individual student. Evidence of good professional attitude.     • --Teaches an assigned academic course schedule in a classroom setting for--both the Computer and--Electronic Engineering Technology--Programs, including but not limited to--Digital Circuits, Circuit Analysis, Electronics, and Communication Theory.
    • --Demonstrates teaching effectiveness through the development, modification, and evaluation of program curricula and instructional materials that comply with established course content, integrate theory with applications, clearly define course goals, observe program and institutional accreditations standards, promote critical thinking and life skills, and respond to diverse academic needs.
    • --Maintains accessibility and availability to assist students with their learning needs and advises individuals or groups of students in academic matters relevant to the--Computer and--Electronic Engineering Technology Programs and exercise professional judgment in referring students to appropriate personnel.
    • --Supervises student learning activities and academic progress and maintains accurate records of student progress and accomplishments. Consults with and interprets these to students.
    • --Assists with the selection, placement and follow-up of students at the college to which assigned.
    • --Coordinates and leads departmental activities and operations by meeting with executive and advisory groups to discuss needs, career developments, and the effectiveness of instruction, developing and evaluating credit and non-credit programs and/or courses, mentoring faculty in the--Computer and--Electronic Engineering Technology competency and instructional expertise, actively cultivating and maintaining collaborative relationships with business and industry within the Electronic Engineering Technology field, engaging in outreach to educational partners for the development and implementation of articulation initiatives and actively participates in accreditation activities.
    • --Provides leadership in the planning, development, and implementation of college sponsored recruitment and retention activities including career and job fairs, student orientations, registrations, and award ceremonies, and/or advising student activity groups, as assigned.

Experience: Seven (7) years of teaching experience in field of Computer and/or--Electronic Engineering Technology , two (2) years of which shall have been in the supervision of students or personnel in educational activities or academic program administration or seven (7) years of business or industry experience directly related to the field of --Computer and/or--Electronic Engineering Technology , including but not limited to, d esign of analog, digital, microprocessor, and communication devices, two (2) years of which shall have been in the supervision of personnel or program/project administration. License/Certifications:-- Valid driver's license or access to transportation. RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS:-- --Thorough knowledge of teaching methods, use of instructional materials and the organization of subject matter into effective teaching units in technology or other specialized programs. Complete knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques and equipment in subjects being taught. Ability to evaluate student progress and provide guidance to both students and instructors. Ability to supervise professional instructional staff and collaborate in development of programs, policies and procedures. Ability to work effectively with businesses and community organizations. Ability to originate and implement new programs and to improve existing programs.
