This fellowship in clinical practice will give experience to and
will fulfill post-masters supervision and licensure requirements
for, a new-career professional in the outpatient levels of care at
the Brattleboro Retreat – primarily in the Virtual Adolescent IOP
program, but with optional experience in other Outpatient programs.
Building also on training offerings in the Psychology training
program, there will be opportunities for honing techniques,
especially in evidence-based practices and interventions. This
position will support patients’ continued well-being by providing
direct clinical services promoting optimal individual,
interpersonal, and social functioning through individual, group,
and family therapy. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Has completed a Masters’
degree in clinical social work practice (MSW or equivalent) from an
ASWB accredited program 2. Preference given to interns who
completed internship at Brattleboro Retreat in past 3 years. 3.
Must be on VT roster of unlicensed psychotherapists 4. At least two
years of work experience in mental health or human services,
including internship experiences Provides direct collaborative
clinical care (individual psychotherapy, supportive therapy,
family, and/or group therapy) to patients to promote change
according to patient’s treatment plan. Demonstrates a sophisticated
and an appropriate professional level of clinical independence.
Provides quality service to patients, including clinical care and
documentation. Adheres to agency’s code of ethics, standards,
policies and procedures as well as the state mental health code.
Provides direct service in accordance with department’s
productivity and other performance standards. Consistently
demonstrates high levels of responsibility. Provides independent
patient/family assessments and treatment as needed and collaborates
with hospital multidisciplinary teams as clinically determined.
Forms therapeutic relationships with patients integrating
theoretical knowledge effectively and ethically in treatment.
Collaborates in program development and evaluation in specified
areas. Develops and recommends changes to improve service delivery
as needed. Implements changes and new programming to meet both
clinical and fiscal standards as determined by the program
director. Coordinates and communicates with other providers and
service components to assure continuity of care and the provisions
of comprehensive services. Provides clinical services or referrals
to patients’ families to enhance adaptive functioning as needed,
including family therapy and supportive family contacts using
knowledge of evidence-based practices. Assists in receiving
authorization from managed care/insurance companies. Makes skilled
judgments regarding clinical risk assessments. Provides mentoring
to interns and under the directive of the program director and
clinical manager. Provides casework services to a caseload of
clients including, but not limited to, program intake, assessments,
treatment plans, progress notes, aftercare plans, discharge
summaries, collateral contacts, etc. Cooperates in marketing of BR
corporate and departmental services and acts as an ambassador to
all potential customers. Provides excellent customer service to
patients, their families, and significant stakeholders; referral
sources, payers, local, state and federal regulatory agencies;
hospital staff and the general population at large. Assumes
responsibility for continuing education and professional
development in designated field and attends ongoing professional
trainings pertinent to the program. Maintains a high profile
through speaking engagements ensuring that the program continues to
grow and maintain a reputation for outstanding clinical services
and treatment. Day FTE 1/40 Hours
