Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Pathology Assistant - Discipline: Allied Health Professional - Start Date: 02/02/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 40 hours per week - Shift: 8 hours, days - Employment Type: Travel Pathology Assistant – Travel Contract (Days) Pittsfield, MA Start Date: 2/2/2026 Duration: 13 Weeks Position Details - Profession: Laboratory - Specialty: Pathology Assistant - Shift: Days - Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM - Hours: 8 hrs/day | 40 hrs/week - Weekends: None - On Call: None Job Summary The Pathologists’ Assistant is responsible for the preparation, gross description, and dissection of surgical pathology specimens and assists with postmortem examinations under the direction of the pathologist. This role supports hospital and laboratory quality, safety, and operational standards. Key Responsibilities - Perform gross examination and dissection of surgical pathology specimens - Ensure accurate specimen collection, labeling, and documentation - Exercise independent judgment to organize and prioritize workload - Utilize HIS/LIS systems and laboratory instrumentation - Maintain accuracy and efficiency in high-volume and high-stress environments - Adapt to emergency situations, including extended hours if needed Required Qualifications - (PA) ASCP Certification – REQUIRED (no equivalent accepted) - Bachelor’s Degree required (Master’s preferred) - Minimum 2 years of Pathology Assistant experience - Strong knowledge of laboratory information systems (HIS/LIS) - Ability to work independently and efficiently - Must have own vehicle Important Notes - Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility will NOT be considered - Permanent address must be included at profile upload - Requested Time Off (RTO): - Must be disclosed at submission - Max 5 days allowed - RTO after submission will NOT be approved About the Facility A 298-bed teaching hospital, Trauma Level III, The facility is nationally recognized for patient safety and clinical excellence and uses Meditech EMR.
