About the Opportunity About the Opportunity The College of Arts,
Media and Design (CAMD) at Northeastern University invites
applications for an open-rank teaching professor or professor of
the practice (non-tenure-track) in Public Relations, to be located
at the Boston campus. We are particularly interested in candidates
who engage public relations and strategic communication as they
relate to public life, civil society, and non-profits. Potential
areas of teaching include science and health communication,
political messaging, misinformation, corporate communication, and
crisis communication. The ideal candidate will have a strong record
of accomplishment in public relations and strategic communication;
demonstrate expertise in the business and creative aspects of the
field; have experience with a strong network of clients especially
in Boston and New York; and demonstrate interest and experience in
new areas reshaping public relations including AI. Prior teaching
experience in an academic setting and/or leading industry-based
seminars and conferences will be preferred. This is an excellent
opportunity for a teacher-practitioner who wants to shape the next
generation of public relations leaders while staying at the
forefront of industry innovation in areas like AI, digital
storytelling, and data-driving communication. Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate
courses, including courses in p ublic relations strategies, social
media, media advocacy, and data storytelling ; p roviding
leadership for the public relations major ; maintaining industry
connections in public relations and strategic communication; and
participating in departmental, college and university service.
Qualified candidates must be prepared to work with global student
populations. Qualifications The successful candidate will have a
graduate degree in Communication, Journalism or a related field by
the employment start date. For Professor of Practice, at least 10
years of professional accomplishment in the field of public

Pay Range: Assistant Teaching Professor: $64,000.00 - $77,000.00 |
Associate Teaching Professor: $70,000.00 - $84,000.00 | Teaching
Professor: $90,000.00 - $101,000.00 | Professor of the Practice:
$86,000.00 - $152,000.00 With the pay range(s) shown above, the
starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include
your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and
skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees
already in the role. Salary ranges are reviewed regularly and are
subject to change.
